Mayor and Mayoress attend the opening of The Nucleus, the new science facility at Hayesfield School

The Mayor of Bath, Councillor Andrew Furse, and Mayoress, Mrs Mei-Ling Chou Furse attended the opening of the Nucleus, the new home of Hayesfield School's Science Department. 

Jenny Body, OBE,FRAeS, the first ever female President-Elect fo the Royal Aeronautical Society officially opened the centre.

The building incorporates nine general science classrooms and laboratories arranged around a central 'Super Lab' and open plan learning resource centre. The Super Lab is a large open plan lab area capable of accommodating up to three classes at a time to perform complex science experiments in a controlled, supported and supervised environment.

The Mayor joined in a demonstration of one of the experiments.

Roman Bath

In 43 AD, the Roman Empire was expanding to include the viable and lucrative outpost of Britain. The Romans built the Fosse Way from Lincoln to Exeter and discovered the hot springs of Bath on their way south.
